Mutton Stew



Ingredients

Mutton ½ kg
Onion 3 medium
Garlic paste 2 tsp
Green chilly crushed 4 or more
Ginger chopped 1 inch piece
Coconut milk thin 2 cups
Coconut milk thick 1 cup
Vinegar 2 tsp
Pepper powder 2 or 3 table spoons
Maida 1 table spoon
Potatoes 2 medium cut into big pieces
Garam masala 1 tsp
Curry leaves few
Coriander leaves few
Coconut oil

How to prepare
Mix mutton with vinegar, pepper powder and salt. Heat oil, saute chopped onions. Then saute ginger chopped, when aroma comes out add green chilly and garlic paste and stir. Add mutton mixed with vinegar and pepper powder in to this. put Maida, garam masala and potatoes with this. Mix together and cook all these in 2 cups of thin coconut milk. When the mutton is cooked well, pour the remaining thick coconut milk with curry leaves. Check for salt. Let it boil. Then remove from fire and garnish with coriander leaves.

Add more green chillies if you like a spicy curry.This curry goes well with

have always been apprehensive of trying to cook mutton. this looks like a fool proof recipe. i make this with chicken, in an almost similar manner!

Mutton stew looks awesome, as Asha said we only get lamb, but some times I get mutton from Halal mkt here

Another wonderful recipe Seena! I love lamb and mutton, great ingredients it looks delicious! Is there a reason you mix the mutton with vinegar does it make it more tender?

Jeena, Yeah, adding vinegar while cooking makes meat tenderer..If you have some hard meat, marinating it with vinegar for some hours will make it tender..
